After studying physics and music at Franklin and Marshall College, I headed to graduate school at University of Delaware to pursue interests in solid state physics, optoelectronics, and electromagnetics, receiving the MSEE and PhD in electrical engineering.  Later I augmented my education with masters degrees in business administration and in biochemistry and molecular genetics (biotechnology) at Johns Hopkins University, along with the MAT (mathematics) at University of Maryland University College, and the MA (math education) at Western Governors University.

As a former research scientist at the US Army Research Laboratory I studied mild traumatic brain injury and developed early-detection brain injury helmet sensors.   I am a certified test director and contracting officer representative. I possess two Level-III Defense Acquisition University  Certifications in Science and Technology Manager and in Test and Evaluation.

I taught for Penn State University for seven years, and directed the MBA program at another school. I currently teach high school mathematics and physics at the Salisbury School, college math at the Virginia Eastern Shore Community College, and online graduate systems engineering and computer science courses for University of Maryland University College. My third technical book in the area of traumatic brain injury is now published.
